HOW MUCH:  It's free.

WHAT'S HAPPENING:  There will be soft drinks, beer, wine, and munches.
		   You can enter various events or lie in the grass.
		   Bring something to barbecue late in the afternoon
		   (there will be grills and a bonfire available).

WHERE:  Around the Lab.

WHEN:  Sunday, April 29 (first day of daylight saving), weather permitting,
       from 1 PM on.

$JFor those who would like to greet Spring with a burst of energy,
the following events will be held.
$. 

RUNNING:    1.  One lap around the Lab (about 600 yards).
            2.  10 laps (3.8 miles).
	    3.  100 yard four-legged race (3 people concatenated).

BICYCLING:  4.  100 yards -- slowest person wins (no track bikes).
	    5.  Fastest at 30 laps (11.5 miles).

SWIMMING:   6.  Women's 100 yards.
            7.  Open 3/4 mile (swim fins may be used).

RUN/SWIM:   8.  Steeplechase around and through Felt Lake (about 1.5 miles).

BOATING:    9.  Handicap sailboat race [B.Y.O.B.].
            10. Canoe/Kayak race (1.5 mile).

KITES:      11. Most elegant design (must fly).
            12. Highest flyer.
TREASURE
    HUNT:   13. Winner take all!

FRISBEE:    14. Two-person precision throwing contest.

VOLLEYBALL: 15. Tournament for as many teams as show up.
WRIST
 WRESTLING: 16. Tournament for each 20-pound weight class.

CREW RACE:  17. [Only if the beer lasts] 10-person teams sequentially drink
                12 ounces each of beer (or root beer).  Shortest total time wins.

Events will be held at about the times and places given below.  Since
we have slightly too many events, any that  don't  attract  at  least
three entrants will be cancelled.

Shower and sauna  facilities  in  the  lab  will  be  open  and  free
throughout the day.

REFRESHMENTS:
       12:30  Installation
	1:00  Dedication of the keg and opening ceremonies
RUNNING:
	1:15  600 meter dash (one lap around the lab).
	1:20  6 kilometer run (10 laps = 3.8 miles)
	2:00  100 meter four-legged race, at firepit.
BICYCLING:
	2:10  Slow 100 meters, in front of the lab
	2:20  18 kilometer criterium (30 laps = 11 miles)

FRISBEE:
	2:30  Two-person precision throwing, at the firepit

SWIMMING:
	3:00  Women's 100 meters, in Felt Lake
	3:10  Open 1 kilometer race, from peninsula to tower and back.
	      Swimfins permitted.
STEEPLECHASE:
	3:10  2.5 kilometers around/through Felt Lake (~ 1.5 mile).

KITING:
	3:30  Most elegant & highest flying contests, at firepit.
BOATING:
	3:30  2.5 kilometer canoe/kayak race, to tower and back.
